    Gabriel Boric graduated with a law degree from the Universidad de Chile. He is a politician from the Convergencia Social party . He served as a member of Congress between 2014 and 2022, representing the district of the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region

    He was proclaimed President of the Republic of Chile in 2022, becoming the youngest president and the leader to have won most votes in the country’s history.

    Chief Economist
    US Department of State

    Emily Blanchard graduated with honors in Economics from Wellesley College and earned MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a leading expert on international economic policy, a professor at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and a research fellow with the Center for Economic Policy Research.

    She currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Economics, Review of World Economics, Economics and Politics, and the World Trade Review; and she is former Chair and a Founding Board member for the national non-partisan, non-profit National Economic Education Delegation.

    Álvaro Santos Pereira

    Chief Economist &
    Director of Country Studies -OECD

    He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Coimbra, an MSc Economics from the University of Exeter and a PhD in Economics from Simon Fraser University. Prior to joining the OECD, Mr. Pereira was Minister for Economy and Employment in Portugal.

    As one of the largest ministries of the Portuguese government, Mr. Pereira was in charge of a major programme of economic and labour reforms. Prior to this, he was a professor of Economic Development and Economic Policy at Simon Fraser University in Canada, and a lecturer at the University of British Columbia in Canada and in the University of York in the United Kingdom.

    Nicolás Grau holds a business management degree from the Universidad de Chile, a Master’s degree from the same institution and a PhD in Economics from the University ofPennsylvania. .

    He was economics lecturer at the Universidad de Chile and assistant researcher at the Center for Social Conflictand Cohesion Studies (COES) until February 2022

    Finance Minister
    of Chile

    Mario Marcel holds a business management degree from the Universidad de Chile and an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom

    In 2015, he became a member of the Board of Governors at the Central Bank of Chile and in 2016 he was elected president. He was previously senior director of Governance Global Practice at the World Bank, deputy director of Governance and Territorial Development at the OECD, and manager of Institutional Capacity and Finance at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). He has also worked as a consultant for international organizations and governments of countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Vietnam.

    José Andrés Herrera

    Undersecretary of Public Works

    José Andrés Herrera Chavarría holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile. He also holds a diploma in Project Evaluation from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a postgraduate degree in Competitiveness and Clusters from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.

    Between 2011 and 2014, he served as head of the Investment Attraction Unit in the Foreign Investment Committee (now InvestChile).
    Between 2014 and 2021, he worked as an executive at the National Mining Corporation(ENAMI), as project manager and modernization manager at he Paipote Foundry. Finally, he has authored several publications related to economic issues, the most relevant being his participation in the “Final Report: Towards a Fairer Chile: Work, Salary, Competitiveness and Social Equity” (2008).

    Mining Minister of Chile

    Marcela Hernando qualified as a surgeon at the Universidad de Chile and holds four Master’s degrees. She was the first female regional director of the Health Service, the first female regional governor and the first female elected mayor of Antofagasta between 2008 and 2012.

    She was a member of Congress from 2014 to 2022 and a member of the Mining Commission for four years during this period, becoming president in 2019..

    Energy Minister of Chile

    Diego Pardow holds a Law Degree from the Universidad de Chile, and a Master’s and PhD in Law from the University of California, Berkeley. He is assistant lecturer in the Department of Economic Law of the Universidad de Chile Law School.

    Prior to becoming Energy Minister, he served as consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank in the area of infrastructure regulation and was presidential advisor to President Gabriel Boric. During 2017 and 2018, he received the Edgardo Buscaglia Award for Empirical Research from the Latin American and Caribbean Law and Economics Association (ALACDE)..

    Karla Flores holds an economics degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master’s in Applied Macroeconomics from the same university.

    A highlight of her professional career was her role as chief economist and head of the Development and Policy Advocacy Unit at InvestChile. She was also senior international consultant in the Integration and Trade Sector at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) for the southern cone, and economist in Financial Stability Management at the Central Bank of Chile.

    Rojas

    Environment Minister
    of Chile

    María Heloisa Rojas holds a PhD in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. She has worked as associate professor in the Department of Geophysics at the Universidad de Chile and as director of the Center for Climate and Resilience Research (CR)2.

    Her research centers on paleoclimate and regional climate change. She was also coordinator of the Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation Ministry’s Scientific Committee for COP25, member of the Presidential Advisory Council for COP25, member of the Chilean delegation for COP26, and coordinator of the Scientific Advisory Council on Climate Change.

    Undersecretary of Tourism

    She has a degree in economics from Universidad de Chile, a master’s degree in economics from the University of Cambridge, UK, and has also undertaken doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge.

    Over her 15-year career, she has developed strong skills in the management and administration of public and private-sector institutions, in addition to academic, research, and teaching activities at Universidad de Chile’s Faculty of Economics and Business. She was head of planning and studies at the Federation of Tourism Companies of Chile from 2018 to 2022, and led the Tourism Undersecretary’s Division of Studies and Territory from 2014 to 2018.

    She has more than eight years of experience managing different types of waste, in commercial, developmental and project-oriented fields, with a focus on the application of circular economy in industry. She previously served as deputy circular economy manager at Volta Chile.

    Giulio Bonazzi holds a business administration degree from the Università Ca’Foscari Venezia. He began his career in Aquafil in 1987, where he was named CEO in 2001 and chairman in 2008.

    In that time, he has helped the company to grow, developing 16 plants in eight countries on three continents. He has dedicated himself to making Aquafil SpA a leading player in the global carpet and textile materials industry, and he is transforming the manufacturing business into a sustainable global enterprise.

    Carmina began her career working at the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Chile and then at the Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Government of Chile, in both positions as legislative advisor to the ministerial cabinet..

    She worked as a senior associate at the law firm Carey, concentrating her practice area in corporate law and international trade. Now, she serves as Public Policy Manager in Chile at Amazon Web Services, and she is also part of the board of directors of IT association ACTI A.G. and of the public-private foundation Data Observatory.

    He has spent the last 15 years focused on the mining and mineral resources industries. Career highlights include his time at Steinert Latinoamericana, where he was the Commercial Manager for LatAm and at TIQ (Trade and Investment Queensland), where he was Director of Business Development.
